Mehrshahr Building No.109

Mehrshahr 109 project is a three-story residential building, situated on a 1,000-square-meter northern lot plot in Mehrshahr. The design challenge for this project was to create replicated green and semi-open spaces within the residential mass. The goal was to enhance the qualitative aspects of the residential apartment model in this area by introducing semi-open spaces as complementary elements to address the shortcomings of the local housing pattern. Typically, residential apartment spaces are designed with facades and window walls, which, due to neighboring constraints and privacy issues on the side facades, result in low-quality spaces in terms of light and views. The proposed approach in this project was to introduce spaces that penetrate the building from the outside in, enabling the integration of green areas into the facades and their connection to the interior residential spaces. These penetrative spaces, in some areas, form internal courtyards within the building. This approach not only enhances the interior spaces but also provides a new model for shaping residential layouts. One of the essential needs of apartment living is the integration of living spaces with greenery and nature. In this project, an effort was made to combine these two elements. The creation of semi-open spaces in a way that ensures privacy was a key consideration. This was achieved through the spatial approach of designing from the outside in, addressing the issue structurally and spatially within the project.
