Morvarid complex

Morvardi complex is located in a small irregular piece of land which was in fact the remainder of a bigger urban block. The challenges of the project were to determine the appropriate functional scenario and to establish the optimum vertical circulation which is organized in harmony with the internal program of the building. Considering the urban scenery, the design process was initiated with a question: how could a small scale building improve the visual appearance of the city. Taking into account the lack of greenery in this part of Kamranieh St., It was decided to create a repetitive landscape on the façade which also enhances the quality of the interior greenspace. This greenspace is combined with a linear staircase along the façade with maximum interaction with the city. This staircase becomes an incentive for people to climb up the stairs, get selfies, and eventually explore the commercial zone of the building. Combination of the staircase and the greenspace acts as the continuation of the city life on the façade and into the building. The project was formed by a combination of voids, green spaces, as well as stacked solid volumes. The intention here was to fade the boundary between interior and exterior and to create an interstitial space. This uncertainty could also be seen in the solid-transparent quality of the façade materials. The façade was formed by a gradual shift from solidity to transparency with minimum variation in the elements and materials.
