The El Goli Bridge addresses the challenge of creating an urban space in Tabriz that accommodates diverse activities across all seasons and weather conditions. The design integrates urban behaviors, functioning independently while fostering social and environmental interactions. The bridge serves as a multi-functional urban platform connecting two major tourist attractions in Tabriz. It is designed to support various activities, including: • Rest and relaxation • Movement and sports • Social interactions • Engagement with nature The design creates three interconnected layers, geometrically defined as interwoven loops that provide optimal views of the surrounding environment. The bridge offers three distinct spatial qualities: open, semi-enclosed, and enclosed—across its levels, supporting a variety of activities: 1. Open Levels: • Dedicated to activities like cycling, running, and outdoor sports. 2. Semi-Enclosed Levels: • Designed for social activities, walking, and sitting in open-air spaces, integrated with green areas at each segment. 3. Enclosed Levels: • Accommodates restaurants, cafés, and galleries with semi-open spaces, offering seating areas and social engagement zones. These spaces function independently yet remain interconnected, ensuring the project remains lively and active during different times and weather conditions. Structural Design: The bridge employs tubular columns, connected to horizontal truss systems. These tubular elements also house escape stairs and elevators, optimizing space usage and functionality. The tubular columns are strategically positioned to minimize the number of supports, ensuring structural efficiency while maintaining visual and spatial openness. The El Goli Bridge is not just a connection but a vibrant urban destination, enabling continuous activity, interaction, and engagement with the environment, while adapting to the unique climate and urban context of Tabriz.
